A Beautiful Lie

The beautious wonder of a lie

How can I speak of it

To have your credibility resting on one small word or sentence

Your world, your life resting on a precarious perch

That one masterfully crafted phrase

In a small ammount of time it can bring you joy or destroy you

In a small ammount of time you could gain fame or infamy

I am a lier

So are you

Our lies link us

Our lies divide us

We are the same in that we lie

Some are just better than others

We find ourselves at the rising tide of machinery and the setting sun of god

And when we see that day is done no longer will we trod

We will fly and zoom and twirl on machinery galore

Until we will no longer see grass or forest floor

No longer to return to nature when the old ones die

Mechanization will be our salvation this is the government’s cry

And when the day of earth’s demise finaly comes at last

To its destruction we can only look to our irresponsible past

We were only soldiers

Across that great gory battleground

through row and field and wood

while friends were sleeping safe and sound

in tents where Duren stood

a path we had to  follow

with the mighty first

to deutschland where we would swallow

the stronget and the worst

of what we saw

and what we did

those days of ’45

when we were only soldiers

trying to stay alive

Rainy Day

Rain makes me happy while others hang their heads

Rain makes me smile when to others it brings dread

When hearing thunder rolling my face begins to grin

I love to see the lighting and the trees blow in the wind

Annie McGee has problems

They come to her from  walls

You see Annie McGee’s problems are not really there at all

Annie see what no one does

Annie hears the whispers

Annie likes to tell everyone about her 2 and 1/2 sisters

She tells of giant dragons

She tells of large lagoons

She even told me once how her maid was a baboon

Everyone tells Annie

She mustn’t tell lies

Poor little Annie can only sit and cry

But one day little Annie

Will find an answer yet

Though she may have to travel far and even to Tibet

To solve the many problems

Her mind has faced her with

Even though its plain to see that she has lost her wit

Storms across my window

I lie in terror

of what passes by

storms across my window

and through the august sky

lives are being broken

tears are being shed

for mother nature’s terrible wrath

while I am safe in bed

and while I lie I wonder

will the roof hold on

or will it tear from the walls and shatter on the lawn

and let the wind come into bed and carry me along

but for now I will just lie here

and wonder all night through

of storms across my window

and what they will do

Night Time Lament

I see the sun begin to fall

Tendrils of frost forming on the window

Curl up into a ball

Hibernation sets me into coma state

Dark cold pulls at the edges of my sanctuary

Silent fight against hypothermic tendancies

Sun starts to peek out of the mist

Feel warm fingers start to creep into my skin

Eyes open wide with the warmth of new day

River Song

The river flows past my new life

The river flows near the old one

The river bears new sons and daughters

To those of my river friends

And also to my people

Who have not seen where the river ends

For the river keeps on flowing until it leaves the land

And travels on forever

Longer than my people cry

Sun Rises Sun Sets

The sun rises early but I didnt see

The day grows old before I know

And now comes the time when we all must sleep

The sun sets the mood with its dying glow

She looks to me with eyes wide and shut

Nothing she sees yet she asks me for help

In the darkness she lives though the world is bright and sunny

She would open her eyes but she cant in fear

There exists in her heart  a place which is empty

It was torn from her chest many years ago

She still can feel the pain where its empty

She says from that place pain will never go

And in her final hours she comes to me in darkness

She comes to tell me softly of all that we have done

She comes to tell her stories of days long past and gone

She comes to me with eyes wide and shut

She leaves me with eyes open anew
